Karma Nirvana is delighted to announce the launch of our new survivor-led definition on Honour Based Abuse. To mark this occasion it was launched on the 9th National Day of Memory in Leeds. This groundbreaking initiative, developed in collaboration with survivors, marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to raise awareness, provide support, and drive systemic change in addressing this form of abuse.
Honour-based abuse is a deeply entrenched issue that affects individuals across communities and cultures. Recognising the importance of having a clear and comprehensive understanding of this complex issue, we have worked closely with survivors to develop a survivor-led definition that accurately captures the intricacies and dynamics of honour-based abuse.
We recognise that until a definition is put into the statute book and properly reflected in government language, this issue will continue to be misunderstood, under-represented and inadequately resourced.
