We are honoured to announce that a memorial bench will be unveiled in memory of Fawziyah Javed on the 2nd of September, 2024, at 1 PM at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh. This event and bench is a tribute to the life of an extraordinary woman who touched the hearts of many and left a permanent mark on all who knew her. This event is open to all.
The meeting point is at the end of St Leonard’s Bank, EH8 9SQ. Please arrive 10 minutes before the event starting time, as we will be leaving promptly at 1pm. Parking is available at St Leonard’s Car Park, 2 Hermits Croft, Edinburgh EH8 9RF.
Fawziyah was an exceptionally intelligent and bright young woman. She embodied strength, resilience, and was never one to be easily intimidated. Her beauty, both inside and out, was matched by her deep compassion, her humanitarian spirit, and her kindness and generosity. She was a beacon of light to those who knew her, with a selfless nature, and a desire to protect those she loved most, even in her moments of need.
We must do more to protect women and prevent these senseless losses. The ripple effects of such a tragedy are profound and long-lasting.
We invite you to join us at Arthur’s Seat on the 2nd of September to honour Fawziyah’s memory, celebrate her life, and renew our commitment to protecting women from abuse. Together, we can work towards a future without Honour Based Abuse and Domestic Abuse.
The bench will be located at the bottom of Arthur’s Seat, and not on an incline, therefore is accessible to all. The bench is a short walk from the meeting point at the end of St Leonard’s Bank, EH8 9SQ. You are welcome to bring flowers to place at the bench.
