This month, we came together to celebrate a campaign victory more than four years in the making. The #Push4Change campaign was launched to secure legal recognition of Honour-Based Abuse and ensure that victims and survivors are better identified, understood and protected.
On 29th April 2026, the campaign achieved a historic breakthrough when the Crime and Policing Bill received Royal Assent, placing a statutory definition of Honour-Based Abuse into law for the first time.
We gather at the House of Lords for the #Push4Change Celebration Reception, we recognise the collective effort that made this change possible and honour those who shared their experiences, championed the cause and helped drive the campaign forward.
Whilst the statutory definition is due to be implemented later this year, today is an opportunity to celebrate how far we have come and reaffirm our commitment to improving recognition, understanding and responses to Honour-Based Abuse across the UK.
At the heart of this campaign has always been the legacy of Fawziyah Javed, and stands as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when survivors, families and allies come together to push for change.
The introduction of a statutory definition marks a significant step forward in improving understanding of Honour-Based Abuse and strengthening responses to victims and survivors across the UK.
