Memorial for Abida Karim

At this year’s Day of Memory, Ria shared a touching tribute in honour of her mum Abida Karim. Abida was murdered by her husband in September 2020.

Ria shared how she and her siblings were not informed about their mum’s funeral until only a few hours before the service. Denied the opportunity to say ‘goodbye’, the children have shared with us their wish to hold a memorial day to provide their mother with the send-off that she deserved.

The Appeal

We are asking for your generosity and support to help Ria and her siblings hold a memorial day for their mother. All donations provided will help to fund:

• Headstone 
• Flowers – The children have requested flowers in the name of ‘MUM’
• Horse and carriage
• 4 x Canvas’ of Abida
• Balloons
• Community Hall hire for family gathering after memorial service 
• Food 

The memorial service will be held on the 24 September at Whinmoor cemetery on the outskirts of Leeds at 3pm.
