Week of Memory – Day 7

On our Day of Memory 2024, we are launching our interactive map of Honour Based Abuse Deaths in the UK and our #WeRemember video.

On our Day of Memory 2024, we are launching our interactive map of Honour Based Abuse Deaths in the UK. This map is a powerful tool to visualise the extent and impact of Honour Based Abuse, providing insights into each case.

Why have we created this?

We’ve created this map to honour all victims of Honour Based Abuse, particularly those silenced. Every year, we host our National Day of Memory on Shafilea Ahmed’s birthday (14th July) to honour her memory. We also use this date to honour and remember all those affected by Honour Based Abuse.

At Karma Nirvana, we believe every victim deserves to have their story told, regardless of whether they have a family member or friend to honour their memory in the way they deserve. This map is more than just data – it’s a tribute to all victims and a call to action. We hope it will serve as a resource for understanding the magnitude of this issue and driving efforts to prevent such tragedies in the future.

These faces represent not just statistics, but real people. They are all daughters, sisters, mothers, sons, brothers, and fathers – all whose lives were cut short. Let us remember them.
